This star of the ABC/CBS hit television situation comedy, Family Matters, is an Albany native and graduate of Albany State University! Her philanthropy regarding ASU proves that to this Golden Ram, RAMily Matters!

Actress and singer, Jo Marie Payton, is an Albany Georgia native. Best known for playing Harriette Winslow and the ABC sitcoms, Family Matters and Perfect Strangers, Ms Payton also voiced the character of Suga Mama Proud on Disney Channel's The Proud Family. She had a recurring role on Will & Grace. Ms. Payton has also guest starred in numerous television show, including Meet the Browns, Desperate Housewives, Reba, 7th Heaven, Moesha and many more. In 2010, she appeared on A&E's The Glades.

Ms. Payton is a graduate of Albany State University. As an alumnus, she has donated her time and money toward scholarships at ASU. During her tenure on Family Matters, Ms. Payton held events at Albany State University, bringing with her to Albany, her co-stars from the hit television sitcom.

Ms. Payton is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 2005, She was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Shas also co-hosted the 15th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards.
