Charles M. Sherrod Civil Rights Park

Charles M. Sherrod Civil Rights Park, named for one of the three Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee members who organized the 1961 Albany Civil Rights sit-in protest at the Albany Trailways Bus Station, contains four monuments: A Chronological Account of the National Civil Rights Movement events, two chronological accounts of Albany Civil Rights Movement events and a quotation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s remarks referencing the Albany Movement.   Nearest hotel: Hilton Garden Inn

Riverfront Park

RiverFront Park is a two block downtown area along the Flint River that serves as a gateway to Downtown Albany, Georgia and other landmarks along the Flint River. The park is also the trailhead of the nature trail system known as Flint River Greenways. This downtown park includes Bridge House, Turtle Grove community play park, Flint Riverquarium, and Ray Charles Plaza. Turtle Grove is the children’s oriented part of RiverFront Park and features six kid-friendly areas: a dino dig, tot lot, big kid area, critters area, mosaic tile area and a music area.   Nearest hotel: Hilton Garden Inn

Veteran's Park Amphitheatre

Veteran's Park Amphitheatre is the outdoor facility of the Albany James H. Gray Civic Center. Veterans Park is located adjacent to the arena in the Civic Center complex. The amphitheatre sits on the river bank and has a 2,500 seating capacity.   Nearest hotel: Hilton Garden Inn
